Agile Coretime Live event
Overview
Agile Coretime is the resource-allocation model introduced as part of Polkadot 2.0, replacing the earlier parachain slot auction system in which projects had to lock large amounts of DOT to win two-year leases. Under Agile Coretime, blockspace on Polkadot's cores is sold as a commodity: teams can buy bulk coretime for a period or purchase on-demand coretime block by block, matching spend to actual usage and lowering the upfront capital commitment for launching a chain. It was first deployed on the Kusama canary network and went live on Polkadot in September 2024 via a runtime upgrade.
