The GENIUS Act — the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act (S.1582) — was signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 18, 2025, creating the first federal regulatory framework for payment stablecoins in the United States. It passed the Senate 68-30 on June 17, 2025 and the House 308-122 on July 17, 2025.
