HyperEVM launch event
Overview
HyperEVM is Hyperliquid's Ethereum Virtual Machine execution environment, which went live on mainnet on 18 February 2025 following an announcement by the Hyper Foundation. Rather than being a separate chain, it runs inside the same HyperBFT consensus as Hyperliquid's existing order-book L1, giving the network general-purpose smart contract programmability. The initial mainnet release supported spot transfers of native and HyperEVM-based HYPE, with general ERC-20 native transfers and precompiles deferred to later upgrades. HyperEVM mainnet uses chain ID 999.
Within the DeFi Intel graph, HyperEVM launch connects to 1 tracked entity, most strongly to Hyperliquid L1.
