Uniswap v3 Launch event
Overview
Uniswap v3 launched on Ethereum mainnet on May 5, 2021, introducing concentrated liquidity — the ability for liquidity providers to allocate capital to specific price ranges instead of across the entire curve from zero to infinity. Uniswap said this could deliver up to roughly 4,000x the capital efficiency of v2 for LPs willing to concentrate tightly, at the cost of more active position management and greater exposure to price moving outside the chosen range. Positions became non-fungible as a result, represented individually rather than as pooled LP tokens, and multiple fee tiers were introduced. A deployment on the Optimism layer-2 followed shortly after mainnet.
