MakerDAO company
Overview
MakerDAO is a decentralized organization that operates the Maker Protocol on Ethereum, which issues the DAI stablecoin. Users generate DAI by locking approved collateral (such as ETH) in smart contracts (Vaults). The protocol is governed by holders of the MKR token, who vote on risk parameters and system upgrades. In 2024 MakerDAO rebranded to Sky, launching the USDS stablecoin and SKY governance token, though the original DAI and MKR tokens remain in use.
Within the DeFi Intel graph, MakerDAO connects to 12 tracked entities, most strongly to Dai, Sky (formerly MakerDAO), sDAI.
