Overview
Orca is a decentralised exchange on Solana, describing itself as Solana's most trusted DEX, best known for pioneering user-friendly liquidity provision on the network. Its core product is Whirlpools, Orca's concentrated liquidity implementation, in which liquidity providers can either concentrate capital in a narrow price band for maximum capital efficiency and fee income, or supply a full-range position for a passive, set-and-forget approach closer to a traditional constant-product pool. Traders use Orca to swap tokens with minimal slippage, and the platform provides portfolio tools for managing and optimising open liquidity positions. Orca also ships an open-source TypeScript SDK so developers can integrate swaps, liquidity management and pool operations directly into their own applications, which has made Whirlpools a common liquidity backend for other Solana products. The protocol includes governance participation for its community. Orca's documentation does not publish token launch details or historical volume figures. Orca introduced Whirlpools as its concentrated liquidity design, giving Solana LPs a choice between capital-efficient narrow ranges and passive full-range positions, and opened the system to integrators through a public TypeScript SDK.
