Overview
EIP-4844 introduces a new transaction type that carries short-lived data blobs, separate from regular calldata, to provide cheaper data availability for layer-2 rollups. It is a transitional step toward full sharding (Danksharding) and shipped as part of Ethereum's Dencun (Cancun-Deneb) upgrade on March 13, 2024.
