Aztec upgrades to V5, adds full private execution environment to Ethereum L2

Aztec Network launched Alpha V5, introducing client-side proving for zero-knowledge proofs on phones and laptops. The upgrade doubles proving speeds and cuts costs by 50% via a new system called Chonk. Governance approved the upgrade in late June 2026 after a withdrawal deadline for V4 users.
