Russia's State Duma passes major bill regulating crypto market with transition period until 2027

Russia's State Duma passed a major crypto regulation bill creating a comprehensive framework for digital currency circulation. The legislation, effective September 1, 2026, requires licensed entities for crypto transactions and gives market participants until July 1, 2027, to comply. Crypto cannot be used for domestic purchases but is allowed for cross-border transactions in foreign trade.
