EIP-8222, dubbed "Lean Staking," proposes decoupling deposit addresses from validator keys and withdrawal credentials at Ethereum's consensus layer, creating a pending-deposit-to-pending-withdrawal pathway. Authors describe it as giving "two-sided plausible deniability" so stakers and recipients look like ordinary participants. It surfaced in April 2026 and remains under discussion.
