Step 1: Buy from the official Keystone store
Order only from keystone.com. Never buy from Amazon, eBay or third-party resellers — counterfeit and tampered devices have been documented. Verify the security seal on arrival.

Step 2: Install the official desktop / mobile app
Download the companion app from the official site. Verify the GPG signature if listed. Pair the device by scanning the QR codes it displays — Keystone is air-gapped and does not connect to the app over USB.

Choose "Set up as new device" — never use a pre-generated seed phrase that came with the device. The device generates a 24-word seed offline. Write each word down on the included recovery card with pen, in order.

- Suspect a fake / phishing wallet. Move funds to a freshly installed wallet on a clean device. Disconnect the suspect wallet from every dapp via Etherscan token-approval revoker.
- Companion app cannot read the device. Keystone is air-gapped — it pairs by QR code, not USB. Clean the camera lens, improve lighting, and make sure both the device firmware and the companion app are up to date so the QR formats match.
- Forgot your PIN. The Keystone cannot be unlocked without the PIN, and too many wrong attempts wipe it. Restore the wallet on the device (or any BIP39-compatible wallet) using your 24-word seed phrase.
