Frax USD (RWA-backed) fund
Overview
Frax USD (frxUSD) is a fiat-redeemable, fully collateralized stablecoin issued by the Frax Finance protocol, holding a 1:1 peg to the US dollar through governance-approved custodians that handle minting and redemption. Frax governance passed proposal FIP-418 to use BlackRock's USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) — tokenized by Securitize and invested in cash, US Treasury bills and repurchase agreements — as backing collateral for frxUSD. Fiat on- and off-ramping is supported via Paxos. A staked version, sfrxUSD, passes underlying yield to holders. frxUSD is an example of the broader shift toward real-world-asset-backed stablecoin reserves.
