Overview
Avalanche is a layer-1 blockchain platform that uses the Avalanche consensus protocol, a consensus mechanism based on repeated random subsampling. It is designed for high throughput, low latency, and scalability, and supports the deployment of decentralized applications (dApps) and custom blockchain networks via subnets. The C-Chain is the default Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible smart contract chain on the platform, enabling compatibility with Ethereum tools and dApps.
