Overview
Backed Finance is a tokenization platform that issues blockchain-based tokens representing ownership of real-world assets, such as equities and ETFs. It allows holders to gain exposure to traditional financial instruments while using decentralized finance (DeFi) infrastructure. The tokens are fully collateralized by the underlying assets held by a regulated custodian. In December 2025, Kraken agreed to acquire Backed Finance (Backed Finance AG) to expand its xStocks tokenized-equities platform.
