Overview
Framework Ventures is a venture capital firm founded in 2019 by Vance Spencer and Michael Anderson, who previously worked at Netflix and Snapchat respectively. It was arguably the first VC firm to commit fully to decentralised finance, and its early positions include Chainlink, Aave, Synthetix and The Graph — several of which became multi-billion-dollar networks. The firm is known for an active, hands-on model in which it runs infrastructure and participates in the networks it backs rather than passively holding tokens. It raised $400 million for its third fund in 2022 and held $1.28 billion in assets under management as of December 2025. On 26 June 2026 it announced its fourth fund, FVIV, also at $400 million, explicitly broadening beyond crypto into AI, robotics, energy and fintech while retaining conviction in blockchain and DeFi — with co-founder Michael Anderson framing tokenisation as becoming the financing layer for AI and robotics. Vance Spencer and Michael Anderson founded Framework Ventures in 2019 and made early DeFi bets on Chainlink, Aave, Synthetix and The Graph. Fund III closed at $400 million in 2022. AUM stood at $1.28 billion in December 2025, and Fund IV (FVIV) launched on 26 June 2026 at $400 million with a mandate extending into AI, robotics, energy and fintech.
