Overview
pump.fun is a memecoin launchpad on Solana that lets anyone create and instantly trade a token, which then 'graduates' to a decentralised exchange once it reaches a set market cap. It was created by three English entrepreneurs — Noah Tweedale, Alon Cohen and Dylan Kerler — with the domain registered on 19 September 2023 and the platform launching on 19 January 2024. Token creation costs under $2 and uses a fair-launch bonding-curve model with no presale; pump.fun earns a 1% swap fee on trades plus 1.5 SOL per coin that graduates at roughly a $90,000 market cap. The platform had generated close to $800 million in revenue by January 2025 with more than 6 million tokens launched. Its PUMP token ICO in July 2025 raised $1.3 billion ($600 million public, $720 million private). It remains active but faces a January 2025 class action alleging it operates as an unregistered securities exchange. Launched 19 January 2024 on Solana. In December 2024 it banned UK users following Financial Conduct Authority warnings. A January 2025 lawsuit alleged it is an unregistered securities exchange. The PUMP ICO in July 2025 raised $1.3 billion; by November 2025 the company had cashed out $465.5 million into USDC as PUMP fell more than 25%. In Q1 2026 its DEX volume exceeded $2 billion.
