Giancarlo Devasini is an Italian businessman who co-founded the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange and the stablecoin issuer Tether alongside Jan Ludovicus van der Velde, with the two companies established in 2012 and 2014 respectively according to Financial Times reporting. Documents from the 2017 Paradise Papers leak identified him as one of the officials who set up Tether Holdings Limited in the British Virgin Islands in 2014. In March 2025 he was appointed chairman of Tether, whose parent company iFinex also operates Bitfinex.
