Peter David Schiff, born 23 March 1963, is an American stockbroker and financial commentator who founded Euro Pacific Capital in 1996 and runs entities including Euro Pacific Asset Management and Schiff Gold. He became widely known for predicting the 2008 financial crisis and for advocating gold as a hedge against what he views as unsound US monetary and fiscal policy. He is one of the most prominent Bitcoin critics, publicly comparing it to tulip mania, and he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate in Connecticut in 2010 after advising Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign.
