Kinexys is J.P. Morgan's blockchain and digital assets business, announced in November 2024 as a rebrand of the bank's Onyx unit. The name was described by the bank as combining "kinetic" and "connection" to reflect the movement of money, assets and financial information over distributed ledger technology. The rebrand also renamed JPM Coin to Kinexys Digital Payments, and the bank said it planned to add on-chain foreign exchange settlement capability. Kinexys covers the bank's tokenized deposit payments, tokenized collateral and digital debt activity.
