Overview

The Executor is a permissionless role in LayerZero's V2 omnichain messaging protocol. LayerZero V2 separates message verification, performed by Decentralized Verifier Networks (DVNs), from message execution; the Executor is responsible only for the latter. Its two main functions are invoking lzReceive on the destination chain's LayerZero Endpoint so the receiving application processes the message, and gas abstraction, letting users pay for both source-chain emission and destination-chain delivery in the source chain's gas token. Applications can choose an Executor or run their own, and Executors earn a fee for delivery.
