MEV Boost product
Overview
MEV-Boost is open-source middleware built by Flashbots that lets Ethereum proof-of-stake validators outsource block construction to a competitive marketplace of specialised block builders. It runs as a sidecar alongside a validator's consensus client, querying relays for the highest-value block header available and allowing the validator to propose that block without seeing its contents beforehand. The design implements an out-of-protocol form of proposer-builder separation (PBS), intended to prevent MEV extraction from centralising staking around the largest, most sophisticated operators. Flashbots also maintains mev-boost-relay, the relay software that sits between builders and proposers.
