Citi protocol
Overview
Citi is a global bank whose institutional business spans cash management, trade finance, securities services and asset servicing, and which has built blockchain products for those clients. In 2023 it launched Citi Token Services, which uses private blockchain and smart contracts to provide tokenised deposits and programmable, always-on cross-border payments and trade finance for institutional customers. Citi has also said it is building digital asset custody, with plans to hold assets such as bitcoin and ether for clients, and it publishes research on tokenisation and stablecoins.
