Polkadot Hub protocol
Overview
Polkadot Hub is the system chain that consolidates Polkadot's core user-facing functionality — asset management, staking, governance and identity — into one place, absorbing and extending the roles previously spread across Asset Hub and related system chains such as the People Chain. It adds native smart contract support through a dual virtual machine design: the Revive pallet provides a unified execution environment so that contracts targeting both the PolkaVM (PVM) and the Ethereum Virtual Machine can run in the same runtime. This lets Solidity developers deploy with familiar tooling on Polkadot while native PVM contracts run alongside them. It launched in 2026.
