Overview
Render Network is a decentralised GPU rendering platform that connects digital artists and studios needing render capacity with operators holding idle GPUs anywhere in the world, so jobs can be parallelised across many machines rather than queued on a single workstation or render farm. It supports the major production render engines — OctaneRender, Redshift and Blender Cycles — and has extended into generative AI, supporting tooling from Runway, Black Forest Labs, Luma Labs and Stability AI. The value proposition is speed through parallelised rendering, elastic decentralised supply and on-demand pricing with no minimum commitments. Governance and stewardship are split: the Render Network Foundation, a nonprofit, supports the core protocol and community development, while OTOY Inc — the graphics company behind OctaneRender — maintains operational oversight. The ecosystem is organised around distinct participant roles: artists and creators, node operators supplying GPU compute, agencies, compute clients, and RENDER token holders participating in the network's economics. Render Network was built out of OTOY's rendering business as a decentralised marketplace for GPU compute, later adding a nonprofit Render Network Foundation to support core protocol and community development, and expanding beyond 3D rendering into generative AI workloads from Runway, Black Forest Labs, Luma Labs and Stability AI.
