Overview
BOLD is the stablecoin of Liquity V2, the second generation of the Liquity borrowing protocol on Ethereum. Where Liquity V1 issued LUSD against ETH only at a fixed, interest-free model, V2 introduces user-set interest rates — borrowers choose the rate they are willing to pay, which determines their position's place in the redemption queue — and accepts multiple collateral assets, specifically ETH plus leading liquid staking tokens Lido wrapped staked ETH (wstETH) and Rocket Pool staked ETH (rETH). BOLD is native to Ethereum and designed to carry minimal centralised collateral risk while inheriting LUSD's resilience with improved peg dynamics. Its distinguishing feature is sustainable real yield: BOLD deposited into Stability Pools earns 75% of protocol revenue directly, with no intermediary, so depositor yields track borrower interest with a very tight spread. Liquity has said more than 10 prospective forking teams signed letters of intent to deploy their own Liquity V2 versions on other networks and collateral assets. Liquity V2 was designed as a successor to V1's interest-free, ETH-only LUSD model, adding user-set interest rates, multi-collateral support (ETH, wstETH, rETH) and the BOLD stablecoin with revenue-funded Stability Pool yield. Liquity has actively encouraged friendly forks, with over 10 teams signing letters of intent to deploy their own V2 instances.
