Overview
ETHFI is the governance token of ether.fi, an Ethereum liquid restaking protocol founded and led by Mike Silagadze, previously founder and CEO of Top Hat and a University of Waterloo graduate. ether.fi debuted in May 2023 as a liquid restaking protocol integrated with EigenLayer: users deposit ETH and mint a liquid token, eETH, which represents their staked ETH and accrues staking rewards while the underlying ETH is automatically restaked through EigenLayer for additional yield. Because eETH remains liquid, holders can use it across DeFi for yield farming, liquidity provision or trading rather than having capital locked and idle. ETHFI launched in March 2024 and gives holders influence over the protocol's direction. ether.fi's total value locked rose by over 3,600% from the start of 2024, making it one of the largest liquid restaking protocols. ether.fi launched in May 2023 as the first liquid restaking protocol integrated with EigenLayer, rolling out its eETH liquid staking token in October 2023. The ETHFI governance token launched in March 2024, during a period in which TVL grew more than 3,600%.
