Overview

X Layer is an Ethereum layer-2 network launched by the exchange OKX, originally built with Polygon's Chain Development Kit as a zkEVM and marketed on full EVM compatibility, low fees and integration with OKX's products. In August 2025 the network completed a major overhaul, migrating from a zkEVM validium to the OP Stack framework and launching an economic model in which OKB, OKX's exchange token, serves as the gas token; the upgrade raised claimed throughput toward 5,000 transactions per second with near-zero gas costs.

Within the DeFi Intel graph, X Layer connects to 16 tracked entities, most strongly to USD Coin, Tether USD, Uniswap V3.
