Overview

Curve DEX is the decentralised exchange component of the Curve ecosystem, where users swap assets and provide liquidity to pools. It sits alongside two other pillars documented by the project: Llamalend, Curve's borrowing and lending protocol, and Curve's governance system. Governance runs on vote-escrow: CRV, the native token, is locked to produce veCRV, which carries voting rights over protocol decisions, and by extension over how the exchange's incentives are directed. Curve's own knowledge hub is organised around three audiences — users who trade and provide liquidity, developers building integrations and working with the APIs, and protocols seeking to integrate with the ecosystem — which reflects how much of Curve's volume comes through other protocols rather than its own front end.
