Polygon CDK — now positioned as the Agglayer CDK — is a toolkit for launching a dedicated blockchain with built-in Agglayer connectivity, aimed squarely at institutions rather than at self-serve deployers: Polygon works directly with enterprises to design and deploy customised chains. The pitch is private blockspace with public liquidity, so an institution gets custom throughput, compliance controls and interoperability bundled together, plus access to wallets, on- and off-ramps and stablecoin rails. CDK offers three configurations: Sovereign, the default, which uses pessimistic proofs for Agglayer security; Validium, which combines ZK-secured execution with offchain data availability; and Private Validium, a validium variant tuned for institutional privacy requirements. Polygon quotes 20,000+ TPS when a chain is tuned for payment workloads, with granular network controls such as API keys and access control lists that filter permissions on specific contracts and RPC methods. Every CDK chain connects to Agglayer, the cross-chain bridge protocol that unifies liquidity and users across heterogeneous blockchains, and slots into Polygon's wider Open Money Stack for payments infrastructure. Polygon CDK began as a chain development kit for launching ZK-powered Polygon chains and has been repositioned around Agglayer, with the institutional Sovereign, Validium and Private Validium modes and an emphasis on payments-grade throughput and compliance controls.
