Overview

SushiSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol and automated market maker (AMM) originally forked from Uniswap. It enables token swaps, liquidity provision, and yield farming through liquidity pools. The protocol also includes features such as staking, lending, and a cross-chain swap product called SushiXSwap.

In April 2023, SushiSwap suffered a security incident: its RouteProcessor2 swap router was exploited for roughly $3.3M (about 1,800 ETH) due to a missing pool-validation check. The bug was patched, users were urged to revoke approvals, and a white-hat rescue recovered part of the at-risk funds.

Within the DeFi Intel graph, SushiSwap connects to 35 tracked entities, most strongly to Ethereum, Uniswap, Arbitrum.

Frequently asked questions

What is SushiSwap?

SushiSwap is a decentralized exchange protocol that uses an automated market maker model to facilitate token swaps and liquidity provision, originally forked from Uniswap. It also offers additional DeFi services like staking, lending, and cross-chain swapping.

How does SushiSwap differ from Uniswap?

SushiSwap was initially a fork of Uniswap but later developed its own features, including a native governance token (SUSHI), a yield farming incentive model that rewards liquidity providers with SUSHI, and a built-in staking mechanism (SushiBar). It also supports multi-chain deployments and a dedicated cross-chain swap tool.

What is the governance token of SushiSwap?

The governance token is SUSHI, which allows holders to vote on protocol parameters, fee structures, and development proposals. SUSHI can also be staked (xSUSHI) to earn a portion of trading fees.

What is SushiSwap connected to?

In the DeFi Intel knowledge graph, SushiSwap is linked to 35 other tracked entities, most strongly to Ethereum, Uniswap, Arbitrum.
