Overview
Clearpool is a decentralised credit marketplace that lets institutions raise unsecured liquidity directly from DeFi lenders. It runs two distinct venues: a permissionless protocol where any lender can supply to institutional borrower pools, and Clearpool Prime, a fully permissioned platform built for the compliance requirements of wholesale institutional borrowing and lending of digital assets. Borrowers open single-borrower pools whose interest rates respond to utilisation, so lenders are underwriting named counterparties rather than an anonymous pool. The CPOOL token is used for staking, for borrower requirements, for liquidity provider rewards and for governance-related oracle participation, and the protocol conducts quarterly buybacks that burn CPOOL using protocol revenue. As of 8 January 2025 Clearpool reported surpassing $650 million in total loans originated with total value locked up 51%. In 2024 it announced Ozean, a real-world-asset yield chain built on Optimism, with CPOOL powering the ecosystem through a new staking mechanism. Clearpool launched as a permissionless institutional credit marketplace and later added Clearpool Prime for compliant, permissioned wholesale lending. It reported passing $650 million in cumulative loans originated by January 2025 and announced Ozean, an Optimism-based RWA yield chain, in partnership with custodian Hex Trust.
