Overview

Connext now operates as Everclear: the protocol's documentation is published at docs.everclear.org and explicitly references its history connected to Connext. Everclear is a public-good mechanism for settling intents across chains, and its central idea is netting. Rather than every filler individually rebalancing inventory across chains — the dominant cost in cross-chain liquidity provision — Everclear lets fillers socialise the cost of rebalancing by netting settlements off against other fillers and users, so only the net imbalance has to actually move. It is designed as a programmable layer on which fillers or users can build any number of rebalancing and settlement mechanisms, integrating with a range of liquidity sources and messaging protocols rather than mandating one bridge. It also enables permissionless expansion to new chains and rollups, so applications can onboard users from new networks without a centralised approval process. Connext rebranded to Everclear, refocusing from a cross-chain liquidity bridge into a clearing and netting layer for cross-chain intent settlement. The Everclear documentation acknowledges the Connext lineage.
